Capt. Khalid Ahmed Khan, the owner of the company, joined the merchant navy as a cadet in the year 1975. After advancing through multiple ranks he passed his Master Mariner examinations from U.K in the Year 1988, thus sailing as a Captain on a variety of cargo ships for the Gulf East Ship Management Company in Hong Kong until 1995. He shifted over to command shore-based operations as a Port Captain for Portserv International Canada and was assigned to oversee loading/discharging operations of bulk and general cargoes in various international ports.

 

During his decades of experience as a Port Captain, he enjoyed a good working relationship with officials of various international organizations such as the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) and NATO.

 

Adhering to his passion for owning his own shipping company, Capt. Khalid returned to Pakistan permanently to form Quayside Services Enterprises in 2003. QSE was founded on the principles of social responsibility, good staff relations and a strong focus on safety protocols. Since its inception QSE has handled more than 7 Million tonnes of cargo ranging from bulk/Break-Bulk cargo (Wheat, Urea, Coal etc) to General Cargo (Steel beams, coils, pipes etc.) for companies such as WFP, NATO, Lucky Cement and the Pakistani Government itself.
